Stunned silence on the phone, staring into space, wondering what to say next. All the hate that I felt over the past week boiled into nothing.

Yet it was all tinged with regret, the heaviness that fell over my heart in one fell swoop. The feelings won’t go away. They’ll fade, but never into nothing. Because what we had was something special, something we both felt.

I can’t claim to understand, because if love existed the way that it does in story and myth, no obstacle should stand in the way. But real life is no fairy tale. There’s no happily ever after.

So I guess this is goodbye..
